I have dedicated my life to the International League of Heroes. With these ladies by my side, I have fought so many battles and kept the world safe for so long that I can barely remember anything else.

—Fox expressing her dedication to her team.

Ellen Fox, better known as Agent Fox, or simply just as Fox, was the leader of the now dissolved International League of Heroes, and was a member of Shadow Squad G. Initially a supporting ally during season one, she serves as one of two protagonists in season two, along with Mr. Wolf. During season two, she reveals herself to be The One, a being destined to defeat Dread Overlord Splaarghön and save the multiverse from his wrath. During Let the Games Begin!, it’s revealed her being The One was a façade in order to deceive the Underlords. She was murdered the same book, being crushed to death by Splaarghön. In Look Who’s Talking, she is revived by Snake but is corrupted into an Underlord,

Appearance[]

Fox is an anthropomorphic brown fox with light blue eyes, having blonde hair tied in a shoulder-length ponytail with a pink hair tie. During her appearances in books 3 to 5, she wears a full body ninja armor, with most of her face initially covered by a mask. The outfit also has a scabbard carrying a sword on her back. For the rest of season one, she wears her International League of Heroes uniform, which is a yellow zip-up turtleneck and pants, along with sneakers and a belt.

From book 11 onwards, her outfit is a simple white shirt with black pants, including multiple bracelets on her left arm and army boots. As an Underlord, she wears a long-sleeved, full-body jumpsuit with a spiked collar, cape, corset, and two pairs of spikes on the wrists and calves. Like most of the Underlords, her pupils are gone, and her teeth and claws are sharpened.

Personality[]

Agent Fox is the most overarching and valorous character in the series. She has an easygoing personality and is more serious and capable than the other members of the group, despite her affirmative ‘leader’ role. Fox, alongside Wolf, was also a key motivator for the Good Guys Club to continue being good. It can also be argued that Wolf and Fox were inspired by each other.

However, Fox would reveal to Snake in Book 8 that she wasn’t always this way. As her species was hunted down which led to the loss of her parents, she would become cynical and bitter in her teenage years, even developing aspects of her ‘tough’ side back then. After Shortfuse adopted and decided to train and share the secret that she is The One, Fox would become the kind and supportive character she is today. As Shortfuse says, Ellen is a ‘cheeky fox’, which is fitting as she’s very smart and strategic, even coming up with the idea for her to act as ‘The One’ as a decoy so that Shortfuse can be united with The Others.

Upon becoming an Underlord, Fox shares her team’s malicious and cruel personality traits, though is notably more aggressive and berating to Wolf upon his denial of her corruption. Like Snake, she also seems to be entirely unaware of her true self, going so far as to say the two have “never been happier” after becoming Underlords.

Biography[]

As a child, Fox’s species were ruthlessly hunted down for being inferior, and she lost her parents in the process. She was quickly adopted by Shortfuse, who decided to train her. Fox, despite initially being an angry and bitter person, was able to grow kind and supportive through her training. When Shortfuse told Fox about her being The One and the prophecy about her reunification with The Others and battle with Dread Overlord Splaarghön, Fox suggested that she would act as a decoy while The Others were on their journey to reunite with The One.

Fox is introduced in The Bad Guys: Episode 3: The Furball Strikes Back as a ninja who defeats Marmalade’s guards to free the Bad Guys. After saving them, she introduces herself an Agent Fox and says that she part of the International League of Heroes and they all escape from Dr Marmalade’s lair. Through books 4-5, Fox helps the Good Guys to stop Marmalade’s zitten apocalypse. She makes brief cameos in books 6 and 7 and introduces her League to the Good Guys in Book 8. The two groups would later join forces in the first arc and defeat Marmalade.

In the second arc, the threat of Dread Overlord Splaarghön looms over the gang as Snake has gone rogue and is working with him. Fox ‘reveals’ to them that she is the One, and tells them that they have to travel across the multiverse to find and defeat the centipede, but also have to find The Others to reunite with her. Fox would later be crushed to death by the centipede in The Bad Guys: Episode 17: Let the Games Begin! and it would be revealed that Shortfuse, not Fox, is the true One.

Relationships[]

Mr Wolf[]

Both Wolf and Fox seem to deeply care for each other. When they first meet in Book 3, Wolf clearly expresses his crush on her, much to Snake’s annoyance. Fox would always encourage Wolf and the others to keeping doing good, even when Wolf reached his lowest points. It is implied that Fox reciprocates Wolf’s feelings.

In the second arc, Wolf and Fox continue to show their bond. In situations where Wolf is in trouble, Fox panics the most and uses desperate measures to save him, including releasing a large burst of energy from herself to de-corrupt Wolf and risk her wellbeing and power. Later in Book 17, Fox dies and Wolf has a hard time having to move one from her death before Shortfuse insists that they have to leave Fox behind to continue. Near the end of Book 18, Wolf is horrified to discover the corrupted Fox. And instead of the supportive and caring Fox, the new Fox is wrathful and demanding of Wolf for not giving in as well.

Agent Shortfuse[]

Shortfuse was Fox’s caretaker and mentor. As a cub, Shortfuse founded Fox while she was wandering alone after escaping hunters and adopted her. As Shortfuse would note years later, despite her ‘cheekiness’ (like giving Rhonda the nickname ‘Shortfuse’ after her grouchiness) Fox was ‘exceptional’, and she would trust Fox enough to tell her secret of being The One and train her. Fox even offered to sacrifice herself and act as a decoy for her mentor’s safety, showing her protectiveness for Shortfuse. After Fox’s death, Shortfuse was as shaken as Wolf, but still did her best to hide her emotion.

Mr Snake[]

As the serpent foretold in Shortfuse’s vision, Fox was sent to keep an eye on him since Book 3. However, Fox’s view on Snake, much like Wolf and the others, was still encouraging. Despite this, Snake view Fox, and Wolf’s crush on her, as rather ‘annoying’, as he initially saw Fox and her League as a bunch of ‘super shiny hero ladies’ compared to his ‘bunch of crooks’. But Fox went on to explain that she and the others went through similar processes of discrimination and anger as Snake and his crew. At the start of the second arc, when Wolf began voicing his concerns on Snake, Fox told him she was worried too, but told Wolf only Snake could decide for himself. When Snake first revealed himself to now be an Underlord, Fox desperately tells Snake to not go down this path, before he declined Fox’s advice.

The International League of Heroes[]

Fox is the leader of the League, which was first founded after they all came together to defy their species discrimination against them and professionally save the world. Fox cares a lot about her team, there being a much ‘girl gang’-like mentality writhing the group, and sometimes playfully banters with them.

Abilities[]

As ‘The One’ (a decoy), Fox was given several limited abilities by Shortfuse.

Purification[]

Via releasing magical energy waves, Fox is able to prevent or recover one from the corrupting abilities of the Underlords. She has limit to this though, as she's prone to becoming fatigued or even passing out if she uses too much, as she was rendered unconscious for the majority of Book 14.

Levitation[]

Fox is able to levitate in midair, as seen when shielding Shadow Squad G from Snake whilst in the getaway car in Book 12. Once more, she managed to hover over the dimension’s spinning blades in Book 13.

Telekinesis[]

Fox has been shown to be capable of telekinesis, having managed to stop the spinning blades from moving in Cut to the Chase.

Trivia[]

  • Fox is the only character in The Bad Guys to have been shown dying twice. The first instance was in Do-You-Think-He-Saurus?!, where Fox was disintegrated by an alien’s mech suit. However, this death was retconned by the end of the book, as the Good Guys Club’s teleported back to the present seconds before her death, having instead killed the alien. The second instance is in Let the Games Begin, as Fox was murdered by Splaarghön. Unlike the previous instance, Fox had truly been dead for a period of time, but was presumably revived and brainwashed by Mr. Snake.
    • Because Fox’s first death had been prevented, she has only canonically died once.
  • It is revealed in book 9 that she sometimes likes to annoy Agent Doom.
  • She admits that she loves Mr. Wolf but doesn't say it in front of him. (book 14)
  • According to book 8, it is revealed that:
    • She is a master of spy-craft and martial arts.
    • She is fluent in 14 languages.
    • She has no preferred vehicle.
    • Her parents were killed by hunters in her childhood.
